Imarat Architects was founded in 1994 by Ar. Savneet Kaur, an alumnus of Chandigarh College of Architecture with a vision of “making a difference” to the “common man” in the tier 2 cities of India. The firm has seen 200 projects to its credit with over 150 single family homes- designed with Green Building principles to “bring good architecture to the doorstep of the common man.”
With sufficient experience behind her, Ar. Savneet went on to do a masters degree in Sustainable Development and decided that Imarat would be a leading architectural inspiration in Sustainable Architecture. The firm was already designing buildings with Solar Passive techniques and when the IGBC was launched in India in 2001, she was one of the first architects to join and contribute. Also, having worked closely with TERI (Tata Energy Research Institute), Imarat was one of the pioneer firms practicing ‘GREEN CONSULTANCY’ in Northern India.

Savneet Kaur, Chief Architect- Imarat, has worked with Nari Shakti award winner, octogenarian artist- Didi Contractor since 2006, giving the architectural backup and assistance on Didi’s remarkable projects, namely- Sambhaavna Institute of Legal studies, Dharmalaya Institute of Compassionate living and a number of mud homes built in the local Vernacular in Himachal. She went on to guide young architectural students in sustainable building as faculty of the Dharmalaya Institute of Compassionate living in Bir, Himachal Pradesh.
Nearly 2 years ago, Imarat Architects, a team of extremely competent professionals, dedicated to Sustainability launched another venture MISAAL: Maati Initiaves for Sustainability in Architecture, Agriculture and Lifestyle.
